For Auckland Homeowners Who Want More Than Plain Walls
Walk In Your Front Door And Feel Like You’re Somewhere Else.
A Greek island house. A Florence hotel. A Moroccan bathroom. Your place.Soft, chalky limewash. Polished Venetian plaster. Seamless microcement. Bring the look you love into your own home with The No-Regret Room: we finish the agreed first room before you decide about the rest. If you decline it, we return the covered surfaces to a painted finish. You pay the repaint price agreed in advance, and we refund the decorative-finish premium. Your quote sets out the terms.
You come down the stairs and the hallway does not look like a hallway any more. The light hits the wall and it moves a little, the way stone does. You slow down without meaning to.
Saturday, your friends come round. Someone stops in the doorway and just looks. Someone else runs a hand along the wall. Then the question you have been waiting years to hear: “Who did this?”
The bathroom feels like a hotel you never wanted to check out of. The lounge feels like the holiday you keep thinking about. The whole house feels considered, personal and unmistakably yours.
That is what these finishes do. Not paint on a wall. A different house to walk into every single day.

03 / What Can Be Done
Many existing Auckland homes can achieve these looks with the right surface preparation and a hand-applied finish. We check your walls and discuss any repairs, construction details or specialist work before quoting.
The Mediterranean Villa
Soft, chalky walls that look sun-faded, with gentle cloudy patches running through them. Warm, a little bit uneven, like the room has been there a hundred years. Think Santorini, Ibiza, the south of France.
Limewash
The Italian Palazzo
Deep and polished, almost like stone. From two metres away it looks like marble. Up close it looks even better. Great for entrances, dining rooms and anywhere you want people to stop and look.
Venetian Plaster
The Moroccan Riad Bathroom
A bathroom with no tiles and no grout lines at all. Floor, walls and shelves all run together as one smooth surface. Hugely popular right now, and easy to get wrong.
Microcement, Over Proper Waterproofing
The Belgian Farmhouse
Quiet, flat and plain, with almost no shine. Soft walls that sit behind linen and old oak. Calm rather than showy. People walk in and feel it without knowing why.
Limewash Or Hand-Trowelled Fresco
Japandi & Wabi-Sabi
Warm, soft colour with a hint of texture. Carefully planned surfaces and junctions create a calm, simple room. We assess which details are achievable in your existing space.
Microcement Or Fresco
The New York Loft
Bare concrete walls and real rusted metal — actual rust that has formed on the surface, not a printed pattern. Tough, industrial, and a bit of a shock on one wall.
Microcement + Liquid Iron
Art Deco Glamour
A metal shine that shifts as you walk past — bronze, pewter, old gold. Powder rooms, bar walls, ceilings. The finish that makes people stop mid-sentence and touch the wall.
Liquid Metals
Provençal French Country
A soft two-colour wash that drifts and fades, aged so it looks old rather than new. Warm, relaxed, and kind to older villa walls that are not perfectly flat.
French Wash
The Stone House
Walls with the depth and texture of stone. Choose a finer or more pronounced mineral texture, with the product and preparation selected for the surface and its interior or exterior setting.
Stone Paint
The Corten Wall
The deep orange-brown of weathered steel, like an old ship’s hull or a sculpture that has stood outside for years. It is real iron in the paint, rusted right there on your wall, so no two patches are the same. Feature walls, fireplace surrounds, kitchen islands.
Rust Effect
Not every finish works in every room. Some are a bad idea in bathrooms or busy hallways. We tell you which is which when we visit, not after you have signed anything.
You have found the look you love. Now see how it could work in your own home.
04 / Why You Haven’t Done It Yet
Love The Look. Feel Confident In The Choice.
You might have a folder full of inspiration, or just a feeling for the room you want. Choosing the right finish, understanding the cost and picturing it in your own home can take some help.
A small showroom sample cannot show you the whole room. Your sample boards are a chance to test and refine your finish before it reaches your walls. We work through colour, texture and application technique with you, then compare the boards in your own light. You approve the direction with a physical reference in front of you.
Then we start with one agreed room or feature wall, so you can see the result before deciding about the rest of your home.
You know the finish, the first-room process and your repaint option before work begins.

Your Finish, Tested And Refined
Your sample boards are where we develop your finish with you. We test the colour, texture, depth and application technique, then refine the agreed details to achieve the look you want. See the boards in your own home, in daylight and with the lights on, before approving the direction. Your approved board becomes the reference for the room, allowing for the natural variation of a hand-applied finish. First boards are prepared within a week after engagement and shortlist agreement; your quote confirms the sampling and refinement rounds included.
Included
A Finish Made Just For Your Walls
We develop the colour, texture and depth through your sample boards, then agree the direction with you before applying it to the room. We record the selected materials and method for your project. The first finished area confirms how that approved look translates to your walls.
Included
Try One Whole Room First
We complete the first agreed room before proceeding with the rest. If you decline it, we restore the covered surfaces to a painted finish. You pay the repaint price agreed in advance; the decorative-finish premium for that area is refunded. Your quote confirms the eligible surfaces and decision period.
Included
We Coordinate The Trades In Your Scope
Where the project needs a waterproofer, tiler, plumber or electrician, your quote identifies the work, responsibility and costs. We coordinate the trades included in our agreed scope and the relevant handovers.
As Quoted

Where waterproofing forms part of the agreed work, we coordinate the specialist input and relevant photo records and documentation. Your quote confirms what is required and supplied for your project.

You have a clear point of contact, an agreed scope and a planned sequence of work. We explain the decisions we need from you and coordinate the work we have agreed to manage.
Start with one agreed room. If you decline that finish, you can choose the repaint option set out in your quote before work starts.
If you decline the first room, we return the covered surfaces to a standard painted finish in your chosen colour. You pay the repaint price agreed in advance. Any amount paid above that agreed repaint price for the covered finish is refunded.
Your quote identifies the covered surfaces, decision period, restoration work and the treatment of any separate preparation, waterproofing or other trade costs.
Once you approve the first room, it becomes the reference for the remaining agreed work. We correct work that does not meet that agreed standard at our cost, allowing for the natural variation of a hand-applied finish.
Fresh Painters is an accredited Porter’s Paints applicator, helping Auckland homeowners choose and apply decorative finishes for their own spaces.
The preparation matters as much as the final coat. We assess the surface, explain suitable options and work through the application and maintenance needs of your chosen finish.
Your sample boards show the finish we create for you. We test and refine the agreed details together, then use your approved board and the first completed area to establish the standard for your project.
If you are working with an interior designer, architect or builder, we can include them in the discussion and coordinate the finish with their plans.
The No-Regret Room gives you a staged way to proceed. The finish, first-room review and repaint option are set out before you commit.
A good result starts with the right surface, finish and expectations. Here is what we check with you before booking.
No-Regret Room projects start from $2,000Your quote includes GST and confirms the finish, preparation and first agreed room or feature wall.
Allow time for your finishWe take on four new homes a month, and start in two to twelve weeks depending on how big the job is and which finish you pick. We do not double-book our trained people to squeeze more in.
Sound walls and checked waterproofingIf the wall is not right, we fix the wall or we do not take the job. And we will never put a finish over waterproofing we did not check ourselves.
Natural variation is part of the finishLimewash, Fresco and Venetian plaster all move and vary. That is the material, and it is the whole reason you want it. What we promise is that the variation is planned, agreed with you, and the same right across the job — not an accident.
Preparation is part of the planIf your wall has a bow in it from 1974, plaster will follow that bow. We will show you, price the fix, and let you decide. What we will not do is pretend.
Usually, yes. And if we cannot get close enough to make you happy, we will say so before you spend anything. Bring every picture you have saved — it is the most useful thing you can do.
02
“Which room should we do first?”
Usually the one you care about most. It is the honest test. If you love it in the room you are fussiest about, the rest of the house is an easy call.
03
“Is microcement waterproof?”
We assess the complete specified system for any wet area. The decorative finish is only one part of the work. Your quote identifies the specialist waterproofing input, preparation and documentation required for the agreed project.
04
“What if I only want one feature wall?”
A single feature wall can be the first agreed stage of a No-Regret Room project, with its scope and repaint terms written into the quote.
05
“Will it handle Auckland’s damp?”
We choose the finish and preparation for the room and its conditions, and allow for the specified drying and curing times. At your visit, we discuss wet-area suitability, ventilation, maintenance and any existing moisture issues.

Aidan is incredibly professional, knowledgeable, honest and helpful!
We engaged Fresh Painters for the exterior paint job on our house in Gulf Harbour, received an itemised quote within a short time frame (which I really appreciated) along with excellent advice on the best options for the job. Aidan and Kale delivered an outstanding result and completed everything to our complete satisfaction. We highly recommend their services and would happily engage them again.
